Episode 04: “Checkpoint City” (2012.08.05)
HQ Audio Stream and Direct Download:
One hundred air miles from the border, the federal government claims the authority to question citizens and demand their “papers”. This includes the border of the entire continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii–north, south, east and west coasts, affecting a population of nearly 200 million Americans. This week’s show centers around the issue of warrantless, unconstitutional checkpoints. Laredo, Texas, “The Gateway City” (or Checkpoint City), is surrounded by federal agents on all sides, making the right to travel unimpeded nearly impossible. The show includes clips from around the country of average citizens standing up to tyranny, resisting DHS, CBP, and TSA checkpoints. As I traveled North to San Antonio over the weekend to attend a Ron Paul National Delegate meeting in preparation for the RNC in Tampa, I had my own run-in at a checkpoint. All that and more on this week’s edition of TORradio.
Danny Benavides: Regular TOR Contributor. Danny talks about his new article Lies, Damned Lies and Politics: Part One, which aims to highlight the false pretenses, namely staged terror events in which federal agencies like the FBI, CIA and ATF have been caught, implicated and/or convicted of complicity, that create the basis for shredding civil liberties and accepting higher levels of tyranny-laced security (Ex: Drones, Drills, and Checkpoints).
