Play

On this edition of Traces of Reality Radio: Guillermo Jimenez and Danny Benavides tackle the immigration issue and the escalating “humanitarian crisis” along the US-Mexico border resulting from the influx of migrants from Central America’s Northern Triangle (Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala).

We discuss recent trends and policy changes that have led to the migrant surge, as well as the historical context with which the immigration issue must necessarily be examined. We also provide a first-hand account of how the US-Mexico border has changed over the years, and how continued prohibitions on drugs and migration, along with increased federal dollars and authoritarian controls, will only make matters worse.
